Learn More About Mark Ostrem

Mark Ostrem believes in being proactive when addressing our community’s biggest concerns. It’s this belief which has guided his extensive legal career. After graduating from William Mitchell College of Law, Mark got right to work, not only keeping busy with his legal career as an attorney and later with his own private practice, but also within the community.

Leadership Developed Through Experience

For over 30 years, Mark and his family have called Rochester, MN, home. During this time, Mark has been involved in a number of organizations with the aim of improving our local community and the state of Minnesota as a whole.

In 2009, Mark was elected to the Minnesota County Attorney Association (MCAA) Board of Directors. As an independent, voluntary organization, the MCAA’s mission is to improve the quality of justice across the state of Minnesota. Mark has maintained long-term involvement with them, even serving as president in 2016. He also represents the MCAA on the national stage as a member of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) and the MCAA’s representative to the NDAA Board of Directors.

Mark has also served as President of the Minnesota Urban County Attorney Association from 2010-2014 and has served on a variety of statewide committees and task forces, including the Safe Harbor Legislation workgroup, the Governor’s Sexually Dangerous Persons Task Force, and was an essential part of the Drug Sentence Reform of 2016.

This experience has given him an intimate understanding of our community, state, and country and how to best address our needs. Whether it be issues of mental health, drug abuse, or child abuse, Mark leans on his experience and leadership skills to tackle issues proactively, working on real, sustainable solutions.
